Training Your Dog Is Easy When You Know What To Do!

Having the perfect and obedient pooch doesn't happen overnight. You must engage in teaching your dog everything he/she must know, just like a real child. Don't crack under the pressure; instead read some of the dog-training tips below for some insightful ideas. You may not end up using all of the ideas, but they can help point you in the right direction.

Crate training a puppy must establish the fact the the crate is the new home of the puppy. At meal times always put their bowl of food inside the crate leaving the door open the whole time while they are eating. This will help them associate good food to the crate.

Dogs mimic their owner's behavior. Don't be shocked if they decide they want to sleep in your bed and sit in your recliner. Don't be shocked if they attempt to eat from your plate. Most of all, don't be angry. Your dog has to be trained that this behavior is unacceptable. They need to be taught the acceptable options.

Puppy chewing is a natural and necessary behavior, but it can be redirected. A puppy's chewing is one way that he explores the environment around him. Provide your puppy with clear leadership and a lot of human interaction and stimulation. Also, provide him with fun chew toys. This will help stop him from chewing on the things that he should not be chewing on.

When training your dog to specific commands, don't mix in pleasantries and other extra words. Give the command word sharply and alone. Your dog doesn't understand words like "please", and won't be upset at your lack of manners. Keeping the commands alone and clear makes it easier for your dog to understand and obey.

Don't approach a strange dog too quickly. Hold our your hand and slowly move closer. Doing so builds up trust with the dog. Once the dog recognizes your scent, he will not be afraid of you and will be more likely to follow your commands.

For your dog to understand what you are punishing them for, you need to catch them misbehaving. If you reprimand a dog for something that happened hours ago, chances are your dog will not make the connection. And if you choose to ignore your dog to show that you are mad, do not ignore it for more than a few minutes.

The best way to train your dog is to use different tones of voices. Use different tones for orders, praises, warnings and reprimands so your dog can easily distinguish your different reactions. Commands must be sharp and firm, corrections should be loud and praise should be given in a natural tone.

Your dog will here not be trained overnight, but you can read some valuable advice overnight. Admitting that you need help is always the first step, and reading about the subject matter increases your insight into dog-training methods. The above advice is tried and true; so take a friendly approach to dog training and do it yourself.
